The Sony Ericsson W705 Walkman phone confirmed

Walkman phone

Sony Ericsson is making huge headlines these days with the anticipation surrounding their incredibly pricey $800 XPERIA X1 but that shouldn’t deter interest from their other devices such as the W705 Walkman phone, which has recently been announced.

The SE W705 Walkman phone has some great hardware specs including HSDPA support, 3G, 3.2 MP camera with a flash, plus a secondary video call lens, the latest Walkman v3.0 software, an FM RDS radio and YouTube. All of these specs make for a well-rounded entertainment phone. But that’s not all! The Sony Ericsson W705 is the first Walkman phone to come with Wi-Fi. So forget nasty data charges and download all the video and music you like.

BlackBerry Bold browser in action (video)

One of the bigger upgrades with the BlackBerry Bold is the browsing experience, which you can see clearly in this video from Boy Genius. You get a look at the general rendering capability of OS 4.6, as well as speed differences between EDGE and Wi-Fi. I’d be curious to see how 3G compares… On the whole this is a much needed update - the poor BlackBerry browser has been a point of contention for plenty of users for a good long time. You guys happy to see the problem fixed? What’s the next biggest issue RIM needs to tackle?

Free, no ads episodes of 30 Rock and The Office on iPhone

It looks like NBC is now streaming free episodes of 30 Rock and The Office to iPhones and iPod Touches. They’re both shown without ads, which is nice, but come with a catch: if you exit Safari while watching, you’ve got to re-download the very large files again. Not a huge problem in the US — as long as you’ve got Wi-Fi — but might cause some headaches for Canadian users when the iPhone hits there, due the high price for bandwidth up north.
