Transformers G1 Awakening coming soon to iPhone

Transformers Awakening for iPhone

Glu mobile has published a single screenshot of their upcoming original Transformers game for iPhone.

Judging from single screenshot, the game is a polished port of an already released mobile game of the same title.

The gameplay has a similar style to that of the Advance Wars series for Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS. I would call it a turn-based strategy game with sweet battle animations depicting the battles.

You can try out Glu’s mobile version on their free trial web-based emulator.

Glu reveals Transformers

Glu has announced the release of Transformers, based on the upcoming movie, reports MobileIndustry.biz

This game marks the first time the series, which debuted in 1984, has hit mobile phones. Players take on the role of Optimus Prime, aided by other autobots, as he battles the evil decepticons across 20 levels in the search for the Allspark, a source of energy hidden somewhere on Earth.

“Glu has truly captured the essence of the Transformers property,” said Hasbro’s Jane Ritson-Parsons. “Through their expertise and mobile platform, we can deliver entertainment that is relevant for fans of all ages and delivers on the Transformers promise of more than meets the eye.”

The game is available through the Americas, Europe, and Asia on over 150 carriers.

EA, Glu, Gameloft and I-play team up in the UK

ELSPA, the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, has announced that Electronic Arts, Glu Mobile, Gameloft and I-play have teamed up with each other and with 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone to release games in the UK.

Each of the four publishers will release one game on all five of the largest UK networks. Glu Mobile’s Transformers, Gameloft’s Guitar Legends, EA Sports’ FIFA 08, and an unnamed fourth title, presumably from I-play, will be released on all five networks simultaneously in June, July, August, and September.

“We have been working with the network operators on a number of initiatives to grow the market of mobile gaming, and this is work that builds on the official charts we publish,” said Michael Rawlinson, Managing Director of ELSPA. “We want mobile games publishers to become more involved with ELSPA so that we can assist them further in this growing and exciting area of gaming.”

ELSPA hopes that this collaboration will set a precedent for the industry.

In Tom and Jerry Pinball Pursuit, the famous cat and mouse duo battle it out in the form of pinball. Players must send Jerry on a wild ride through three pinball tables based on areas from the classic house.

Finally, Centipede celebrates 25 years of classic arcade action on a new medium. Glu has attempted to capture the essence of the iconic game while upgrading the gameplay with additional themes and power-ups, as well as upgrading the controls and graphics.

Centipede is the first game released through Glu’s new partnership with Atari.
