THQ releases WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008

THQ Wireless has released the 2008 edition of their wrestling series WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw.

The latest in the series features Superstar Fighting Styles, which allows players to use one of 8 unique fighting styles, each with their own strategies and attributes. A new Struggle Submission System has been added to make the control scheme more intuitive and natural by allow players the control the amount of pressure they apply to opponents. Fan-requested additions have been added as well, such as new rosters, improved out-of-ring action, better community support, and more.

THQ Wireless releases MotoGP07

THQ Wireless has announced the release of the motorcycle racing game MotoGP07.

The fourth in their MotoGP series, ‘07 adds 3D visuals and environments to the game. It is officially licensed from Dorna MotoGP and includes actual riders, bikes, tracks, and 2007 season data. It also features true weather conditions and realistic crash simulations. 16 tracks are available to play.

THQ has released a trailer for the game in Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and Real Media formats. It’s available to buy for £4.50 by texting MOTOGP to 88188.

Universomo announces Cell Weaver technology

Universomo, a company owned by THQ Wireless, has announced new software for control mechanics called Cell Weaver.

Cell Weaver allows players to perform “sequence patterns” using the phone’s keypad. Universomo has stated that this technology will be perfect for everything from complex battle games to martial arts, even to music or rhythm games.

“Cell Weaver can be applied as a base for genres from rhythmic music packages to action battles and combat duels,” said Henri Roth, Creative Director at Universomo. “For the first time on mobile, the player really has the feeling of holding the reigns!”

The first game to use Cell Weaver is scheduled to launch in spring of 2008.

THQ posts Worms 2007 videos

THQ has released a two video clips for their upcoming game Worms 2007, developed in conjunction with Team 17.

Prehistoric Fun Park released

THQ Wireless has announced that they have released Prehistoric Fun Park.

Prehistoric Fun Park challenges you to entertain cavemen and women in 1,000,000 B.C. You must build a theme park, keeping your prehistoric guests fed, watered, and entertained. It features 25 rides to obtain and 35 objects to place and arrange, as well as three game modes: campaign, competition, and free play. Five maps are included, and you can even go head-to-head with four other park owners to fight for the most successful park.

THQ Wireless releases Tangram

THQ Wireless has announced the release of Tangram Super Shapes, a game based on an ancient Chinese puzzle.

The game uses seven pieces called Tans, which fit together to form a square. The objective is to take these pieces and form a specific shape. The shape must contain all seven pieces without the piece overlapping. The game includes over 200 shapes to make, as well as four game modes: arcade, time challenge, random, and creativity.

THQ Wireless releases Rafa Nadal Tennis

THQ Wireless has announced the release of Rafa Nadal Tennis in the UK.

In the game, you must guide tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, who is currently ranked 2nd in the world, to the coveted number 1 spot. The game features four different court surfaces including clay and grass, a one button control scheme, and a multiplayer mode for Bluetooth handsets.

THQ announces America’s Cup Mobile Racer

THQ Wireless has announced that they will be publishing America’s Cup Mobile Racer in partnership with developer Be Tomorrow.

The mobile sailing game features all the official boats, teams, and sailing areas of America’s Cup. Gamers will be able to play as any of the 11 challenger teams to qualify for a one-on-one duel against the defending Team Alinghi. Players will start off with 9 training modes, learning everything from basic steering and buoy turns to complicated sail masking and race tactics. If you manage to complete all the races and beat Team Alinghi, you will unlock the Alinghi boat and be able to use it Free Race mode.

The game is set to hit mobile phones in May of this year.

Team 17 and THQ Wireless team up for Worms 2007

THQ Wireless has announced that they have signed a deal with developer Team 17 to bring Worms 2007 to handhelds worldwide.

The game will features 3D backgrounds on phones that can display it, new weapons, and even a new mission-based single player campaign.

“The addictive style of Worms gameplay has proven to be ideal for the mobile environment,” said Adam Comiskey, Vice President of International at THQ Wireless. “This new version of the classic game will please existing fans of the series, as well as newcomers to the world of Worms.”

“With Worms 2007, we have the opportunity to strengthen an already powerful franchise and provide a definitive gaming experience on mobile handsets within the Worms universe. THQ releases Pipemania and Worms Crazy Golf

THQ Wireless has announced the release of both Worms Crazy Golf and Pipemania.

Worms Crazy Golf takes the familiar action from Worms and puts it on the golf course. Instead of golf balls the Worms use grenades, and the enemy Worm is tied to the flag pole. There are 27 holes spread across three courses, and up to four players can all play on one phone. To get the game, text CRAZY to 88188.

In the puzzle classic game Pipemania, players must connect pipes on a grid to allow water to flow from one end to the other. If you run out of time before you finish, a leak springs and you lose the game. To get the game, text PIPE to 88188.
