Zumobi launches social networking app Ziibii for iPhone

for iphone

Zumobi announced the availability of Ziibii, a free iPhone App now available on iTunes . Ziibii users enjoy a new way to stay in-touch and in-the-loop with friends, photos and the world around them. Blending Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and web content into a fresh experience, Ziibii is easy-to-use, fun to explore, and offers great features for wireless consumers as well as brands.

Ziibii enables real-time social interaction between users across a variety of popular social media applications, as well as on-going discovery of news, stories and blogs throughout the day. Displayed on the screen of the handset, Ziibii’s visual expression metaphor is a river with content “rafts” floating with the user’s pre-defined content, including direct-connect to social networking sites and RSS feeds.

Nokia Friend View - share your location, thoughts and information

Nokia Friend View has been made available on Nokia Beta Labs today. The app is a combined location and micro-blogging application. The application automatically launches your GPS and allows you to share it with your friends. You can also post updates, change your status and blog about your feelers. To set it up, you’ll need to get a Nokia Account and get your hands on a S60 3rd Edition phone.

Remember, if this is the sort of thing you enjoy and have a BlackBerry, I recommend Vayoo.

No pre-loaded or official Facebook app for Android G1

Facebook

Facebook fans will be disappointed to know that Android does not offer an official Facebook app. I’m curious why Facebook decided to invest so much money in the iPhone and BlackBerry and they’ve given zero attention to the G1. There could be some weird politics behind the scenes. Facebook gets its advertising from Microsoft while Google serves up ads for Myspace. There could be a conflict of interest here.

So I put the question to QB readers, how important is it to you to have Facebook mobile?

CTIA 2008: MocoSpace brings music, social and mobile together

MocoSpace on the iPhone

I had a chance to sit down with MocoSpace at CTIA and they’ve got some great news about their site. Users have skyrocketed to about 3.6 million users! They’re also trucking along very nicely with new artists and songs uploaded to their site.

In case you’ve been on Mars with your eyes sowed shut and your fingers in your ears, MocoSpace is one of the largest mobile internet sites in the world. They are also the largest pure mobile social network in the US with over 2 billion pageviews per month.

This is your jukebox speaking

A jukephone
LocaModa and TouchTunes have teamed up to offer mobile phone access to jukeboxes. Jukeboxes that use TouchTunes’ software will allow users to interact with them, seeing who else is a fan of the club as well as social networking bits like user-generated content and photos. Users can see what’s playing and even gift songs to their friends that are actually, you know, at the club instead of sitting at home on their phone. It’s a pretty cool technology, I just gotta wonder who will use it.

Greystripe games to be available on MocoSpace

Mocospace
Arjan at the Mobile Games Blog found out that Greystripe’s massive catalog of games will soon be available on MocoSpace. MocoScape is a free social networking site designed for mobile users. They offer photo sharing, chat, forums, and video to share with other mobile phone users. Greystripe’s games are all fully ad-supported, meaning that the games are free to download and play but feature advertisements at the beginning and end of the game, and occasionally during loading screens. You can get a sampling of Greystripe’s catalog by visiting GameJump or, soon, from MocoSpace’s site.

iPhone is king in mobile entertainment

iPhone
A recent survey from M:Metrics indicates that the iPhone is the top device for mobile entertainment, including mobile video and social networking services. Only about 20% of the smartphone market visits social networking sites, while almost half of iPhone users do. In general internet usage, 85% of iPhone users went out and explored, compared to only 52% of other smartphones. Mobile gaming wasn’t mentioned, but with the recent release of the software development kit and upcoming release of the AppStore — not to mention large number of companies excited about the iPhone’s features — it’s an easy bet that they’ll make a big splash in that sector as well.
