RealNetworks has announced the launch of a new game called Diamond Detective and a contest to run alongside it.
Diamond Detective is the mobile version of a popular PC puzzle game where players must make long chains of different gems to recover them from thieves. After enough gems have been recovered, players receive a clue from the crime scene, and after receiving enough clues can use them to put the criminal behind bars.
The contest, which is open only to European players, will give out over €15,000 in real diamonds to some lucky winners. The winners are chosen at the end of each quarter, and entry into the contest is gained by receiving hints after defeating levels in the game and using them to hunt diamonds on the contest’s website. (At the time of this writing, the website is not yet functional.)
The game is available now, and a demo version can be downloaded free of charge.

The following press release regards RealNetworks’ bid to take over WiderThan Co. Ltd. Both companies are interested in casual gaming and the merge should provide the market with some interesting content.
