Firemint’s “Real Racing” is getting hype

Firemint’s “Real Racing”, is an iPhone game that’s getting a rave reception at the current Leipzig
Game Convention. It’s a car racing game with accelerometer steering (of course!) but also features social networking integration. With Real Racing, you’ll be able to upload lap videos straight to YouTube from within game. They also have a Facebook leaderboard coming. More details to come!

Gameloft signs on with Ferrari

FerarriGameloft has announced that they’ve signed a multi-year agreement with Ferrari, reports Games On Deck. The first game to be developed as part of the partnership will be Ferrari World Championship, which should be released any day now. While there are no details available, it’s safe to assume that the future games will be racing games as well.

Fishlabs releases Powerboat Challenge

Arjan over at the Mobile Games Blog found out that Fishlabs has released a new racing game called Powerboat Challenge. Hop into a powerboat and race against others through narrow rivers, everywhere from lush jungles to arctic wastelands. The game uses a powerful 3D engine, and Fishlabs offers a bunch of customization options to make the game run on slower phones. It’s currently available for many models of Nokia and Sony-Ericsson phones. Hey, maybe we can get another weekly contest out of it.

Glu releases Project Gotham Racing Mobile

Glu has announced the release of Project Gotham Racing Mobile, bringing the popular series to handhelds for the first time.

Players can race one of eight cars, including the Honda NSX, Lamborghini Gallardo, and Corvette C6, through London, Paris, San Francisco, and other exotic locales. Each vehicle’s physics and engine specifications are emulated in the game. The “Kudos” system has been preserved, with players earning Kudos for drifting around corners, using other racers’ slipstream (or drafting), overtaking, and air time, as well as extra points for combinations.
