Excite Bike makes for an awesome iPhone NES ROM

Getting your iPhone 3G to run any NES game in the world is pretty easy thanks to the Mac-friendly developers out there who made the PwnageTool. I will run you through the necessary steps and if you’ve never played with DOS it may be frustrating but bear with me. If you can’t get it to work, just leave a comment and I’ll help you out.

iControl pad - turn your iPhone into a PSP-style gaming device

A mobile controller for the iphone

The iControl pad has been picking up some fame over at Gizmodo and TouchArcade. I remember seeing video about this back in June when the pad was just in development. The iControl pad has four face buttons, a D pad, Start/Select and an LED to show when it’s in use. This is exactly what console gaming needs for the iPhone. I’d love to try it out on some of the emulators that have been popping up.

How To Hack the iPhone 3G to play NES games

iPhone broken after less than a month of use

My iphone is completely broken

Ok so maybe it has something to do with the fact that I tweaked and hacked my iPhone until it wasn’t even really an iPhone but an NES/internet hub super computer slightly resembling an Apple product. Or maybe it was just a design flaw on the part of Apple because I’ve completely reset the phone back to factory settings and it still barely makes a phone call.

All of the applications refuse to load and the phone resets itself about every 10 seconds. Also, my “back” button sicks 9/10 times I use it. I also can’t sync with iTunes. What a bummer. I’ll keep everyone updated on my attempts to fix the problem.

NES emulator for your Sidekick

Duck Hunt and a snickering dog
The Boy Genius got word that an NES emulator has been developed for the Sidekick. It was written by AcidAngel and apparently works quite well, but it’s unlikely you’ll be seeing an official download any time soon. While emulator programmers and game companies have mostly settled into an uneasy peace, downloading ROMs to play remains highly illegal, and even transferring data from cartridges you own is of dubious legality. Nintendo’s legal team can strike like the fist of an angry god, and I doubt Danger wants to evoke their ire. There’s no info on pricing or availability yet, so we’ll keep an eye out.
