NBC video on your Windows Mobile device

NBC’s mobile portal provides streaming video (including full episodes of some shows) on both Windows Mobile devices and the iPhone (and iPod touch). Head over to the mobile NBC website to see the site and videos.

You’ll need to be patient with the video streams even when using a wireless LAN. It took about 45 seconds for it to buffer on my HTC TyTN. Then, the audio stream started without video for another 10 seconds or so. But try it out and let me know how it works for you on your Windows Mobile device of choice.

Gameloft releases Heroes: The Mobile Game

Gameloft has announced the release of a mobile game based on the hit NBC show Heroes.

Originally announced in March, Heroes: The Mobile Game follows the events of season one of the show, but also offers an exclusive spoiler from season two that will not be revealed to fans until later in the season–although revealing this secret is not necessary for completing the game. The game itself was written in collaboration with the show’s writers and allows gamers to experience the thrill of discovering and exploring the strange power thrust on a group of otherwise normal people. Gamers will take control of Hiro, Niki, or Peter from the show, as well as interact with other well-known characters.

“With such a massive fan-base, we knew it was critical to work closely with the writers and producers of the television series to develop a game that matched the dynamic atmosphere,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing at Gameloft. “Surpassing expectations is what we aimed for and achieved with the game, so we are very happy with the end result and look forward to fans enjoying it worldwide.”

The game is available now through most U.S. carriers.

Gameloft announces Heroes for mobile phones

Gameloft has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with NBC to bring the TV show Heroes to mobile phones.

Hereoes: The Mobile Game allows players to take on the role of some of the characters in the show, such as Hiro Nakamura, Niki Sanders, Matt Parkman, and Peter Petrelli. They will use the characters’ super powers as they fight through the story, written in part by the show’s writers and based on events from the first and upcoming second season.

“Heroes has created a large, die-hard fan culture and we are excited to bring the action and intrigue of NBC’s leading drama series to gamers and Heroes fans alike,” said Gonzague de Vallois, vice president of Publishing for Gameloft. “With an international cast and rapidly growing international level of success, Heroes has achieved a massive global appeal and as such, Gameloft is the perfect publisher to deliver Heroes: The Mobile Game worldwide.”

There is no information yet on a release date or pricing.
