MobileRated serving 750,000 games per month

Free download site MobileRated has announced that they are serving games to customers at the rate of over 750,000 games per month.

“One of the hassles of off-deck content is paying for things,” said Richard Mosher, MobileRated president and CEO. “Do you trust the site, and can you pay conveniently from your phone? With MobileRated, these concerns go away. You can download whatever content interests you without punching in credit card information. Free content opens the door to all those mobile phone users reluctant to get started. With MobileRated, there is no excuse not to become a mobile phone gamer. Our download numbers confirm this.”

MobileRated serves games in a number of formats, from the ad-funded FreePlay games to “Try&Buy” game demoes. They also support third-party systems such as HOVR.

Jamtris wins at Game Developer Contest

Jamos Games, makers of Jamtris, have won a contest run by game download site MobileRated.

The winner of the contest was determined by number of downloads, and Jamos Games has walked away with $500 Canadian for their open source game.

“Compared to regular open source computer software, writing an open source mobile phone game has [been] proved to generate very little feedback,” said game creator Tomas Larsson. “Users tend to download the software and use it, but not to get involved and interact with the community in the way that happens with computer-based open source software. Therefore, getting feedback from MobileRated.com users and receiving recognition for my creation - in the form of this award - is highly valuable to me and has really motivated me to continue development of the new versions of the Jamtris game.”

Other notables in the contest included Bomber, Doom 3D, and Underground Racer.

Developer Kalador has announced that their FreePlay ad software powers the site Mobile Rated.

Kalador says that their software, which includes pay-per-view, pay-per-click and other metrics, is helping MobileRated to grow at the rate of 50% per month. They state that the mobile gamer is a highly sought after profile for many advertisers, but it is also harder to reach due to reduced interest in the usual ad channels like TV and radio.

Mobiles
MobileRated, a web portal offering free mobile games, has posted its list of the top 10 downloaded games for February.

Jamtris has moved to number 3 after holding the top spot, to be replaced by Bomber. Underground Racer retains its 2nd place spot and developer Condetsoft debuts with two games: Zombie Buster at number six and Driving mania at 8th. These are the only two new games on the list. Girl Playing Mobile Games I’m surprised by this news coming today because I remember visiting this site a while ago thinking it was launched but I guess not. In any case, yesterday was the official launch of MobileRated, a free mobile game site.
