Ozura Mobile has announced that they have released Master of Maya, a trading card game and one of the first to appear in the mobile space.
Players take on the role of a Mayan ruler and put together a team of characters to face another player and his or her team. Mutation cards allows players to change and evolve and characters, improving their fighting or sorcery skills.
“We are confident that Master of Maya and our MaxGames portal will pave the way for future mobile games with high-production values,” said Lion Peh, Ozura’s CEO. “It has real mass market appeal and even people who haven’t yet discovered the trading cards will enjoy this gameplay.â€
Deborah Tan has won the Miss Maxgames contest run by Ozura Mobile and Maxis Communications Berhad, reports Mobile Games Blog.
The search for Miss Maxgames involved 15 female contestants who were shortlisted from across the country of Singapore. The chosen 15 then battled it out onstage, playing The Duel Online and Antopia. Deborah Tan won the contest and walked away with a Playstation 3.
“These highly rated games were specially selected for the Miss MaxGames final live tournament as they present exciting and competitive battle opportunities,” said Ozura CEO Lion Peh. “Games such as The Duel Online require strategic planning and lots of practice while Antopia tests players on individual skill, consistency and timing.”
Deborah Tan was accompanied by the MaxGirls Teh Jenni, Kammy Aw and Chrysalis Chea. Together, the four comprise the MaxGirls All-Star Team and have been awarded a contract with Ozura worth RM15,000 for the year.
Ozura Mobile, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nextnation Communication, and Maxis Communication Berhad, Malaysia’s leading telecommunications provider have announced the search for “Miss MaxGames and the MaxGirls” (or MxG for short). Lion Peh, Ozura’s Chief Executive Officer said, “In the search for Miss MaxGames, we’re not only promoting the MaxGames community but simultaneously boosting interest and appeal among female gamers to participate and reveal their talents. We’re looking forward to a good response from both MaxGames members and non-members alike.”
The contest is divided into three rounds:
1. The first round requires contestants to send in their applications before the 4th of March, 2007. Contestants need to be between the ages of 18-25, include some self-portraits and a written profile.
2. Round 2 includes an interview process for short-listed candidates which tests them on gaming knowledge and personality.
3. The final 12 will make it to round 3, and will appear at the Game and Anime Festival at Sungai Wang Plaza which falls on the 16th of March till 18th of March 2007. The final 12 will play Ozura’s new hit games, Antopia and The Duel Online live. 5 of the highest scoring finalists will be awarded The MaxGirls (MxG) recognition and will move on to the final round to compete in The Duel Online the very next day. Whoever wins The Duel Online will get the Miss Maxgames 2007 crown.
The winner will sign a 1-year contract with MaxGames to be featured in Maxis upcoming road shows and other promotional activities.
Ozura Mobile has announced six finalists that will make it to the Grand Finals after the final heat of the Beauty Queen tournament. Personally, I had no idea that Ozura was running a tournament but it has been going on since March.
