Mobile user in Bangladesh

Sony Ericsson is leading the charge to introduce a new scheme that will help boost social and economic development in the 3rd world, and they’re starting with Bangladesh. The plan is to demonstrate how 3G/HSPA technology can improve productivity and quality of life in the hopes that other nations will catch on and mobile education will spread through the masses.

The project, entitled Alokito Bangladesh (Enlightened Bangladesh), will include a mobile health and mobile learning segment and will run from early August to the end of October this year.

Telecom Italia completes multimedia broadcast trial

tv.jpg
Telecom Italia, along with Qualcomm and Huawei, have completed the first trial of their Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS). MBMS uses preexisting UMTS/HSPA networks to broadcast multimedia offerings such as mobile TV. The trial received high network speeds and even more reception and capacity than they expected. The technology is also being put on trial by T-Mobile and others in London, and if it succeeds we can hope to see it spread to other areas in the world. It can also be used to broadcast other content such as advertising or news.
