Disney Pixar’s WALL.E hits mobile

THQ announced WALL.E, the video game based on the Disney.Pixar film, is available for mobile. Developed by Heavy Iron Studios, the game will be made available internationally, but we aren’t sure about pricing at the moment.

Disney releases PK: Phantom Duck

The Walt Disney Internet Group has released PK: Phantom Duck, a mobile game based on the comic book franchise. The series focus on a darker version of Donald Duck, who becomes a masked hero on a mission to protect the town of Duckburg from Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys. There are 14 levels of physics-based puzzles and platforming action, as well as secret zones with bonuses and extras. The game it out now and available from major operators.

Living Mobile to release Turok

Living Mobile will be releasing a mobile version of Turok later this month, alongside the console and PC releases by Disney Interactive Studios.

THQ announces WALL•E

THQ has announced that they will be developing a mobile game based on the upcoming Disney/Pixar animated film WALL•E.

The game and movie revolve around the character WALL•E, the last robot left around after mankind leaves Earth. After hundreds years, he meets another robot named EVE and they set off on a quest to save the planet. Players will take control of WALL•E and EVE as the explore the game’s 10 worlds. Some are set in locations from the movie while others are unique to the game.

This is the second game in a partnership between THQ and the Disney/Pixar pair, following last year’s Ratatouille. After WALL•E’s release alongside the movie, two more games are planned.

Disney to release Enchanted mobile game

Disney Mobile Studios has announced that they will be releasing a mobile game based on the Disney movie Enchanted.

The game features three mini-games with 14 levels each. The games are played in rotating order, and one level of each game must be played before all games advance to the next level. In the first mini-game players take control of the character Pip as he jumps through the forest collecting statue pieces. In the second, Pip and his friend Bunny must rearrange rows of fruit to reveal hidden pieces behind. Finally, Fawn and Boar must use Fawn’s quickness and Boar’s strength to bring the pieces back to the main character Giselle.

Disney expands Prague-based studio

The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) has announced that they are extending their global mobile games reach by expanding their development studio in Prague.

The WDIG plans for the studio, which is being renamed the Disney Mobile Games Studio, to become their largest European location for development.

“The mobile gaming market is developing at a rapid pace,” said Cindy Rose, SVP and managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. “With the strength of Disney’s brand, the depth of our content offering and our mobile gaming expertise, we feel that we are well positioned to capitalise on the growth potential of this sector across the EMEA region.”

This move is part of a more general plan to expand Disney’s worldwide reach.

Disney Mobile announces Christmas lineup

Disney Mobile Studios has announced their lineup of games to be released in time for Christmas.

The classic game Lode Runner is receiving a graphical makeover and will be released with added features. Another classic, Bomberman, is coming as well. However, this isn’t just one title, but includes the many versions of the game that have been made since its original release.

There are also new titles, starting with Disney Snow Sports, which allows players to ski, bobsled, and more with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and the rest of the gang. Another title, Enchanted, is based on an upcoming Disney movie which puts fairytale characters into modern day Manhattan. Lastly, Cars: Radiator Springs 500 is a sequel to their earlier game based on the Cars IP.

The games will be released throughout November and will be available on major operator networks in Europe.

THQ reveals 2007 plans

THQ has acquired the rights to Lego Batman, which will represent one of the key brands for the company in 2007.

MobileIndustry.biz has reported reported on many of the company’s plans for ‘07, including a four movie deal with Disney Pixar, with the first project being a tie-in with animated movie Ratatouille, due out this summer.

Stuntman is another new brand for the company, recently acquired from Atari, and should appear on handsets this year.

Other products include Worms Crazy Golf, Hunting Unlimited, Prison Tycoon, America’s Cup, and Prehistoric Funpark, as well as a new WWE game and a new Snood game.

Interest ramping up for N-Gage phones?

Stuart Dredge of Pocketgamer discusses how publishers are now checking out Nokia’s N-Gage platform at a “secret workshop”. The N-Gage, which is a mobile telephone and handheld game system based on the Nokia Series 60 platform, is to be incorporated into “Smart Phones” from Nokia and released this year, and the article reports that “behind the scenes, activity is ramping up, following a top-secret workshop for publishers and developers, held in Santa Monica last week”.
