Digital Chocolate announced the release a new social networking series of games called DChoc Café, reports Wireless Week.
Games in the series allow players to create personalized characters to experience the cafés. They can then form their own exclusive cafés and invite their friends, or visit the settings created by others. Bonus points, which are rewarded to players for playing well or for competing against other cafés, can be used to unlock bonus items. The first five games in the series are DChoc Café Sudoku, DChoc Café Kakuro, DChoc Café Hold’em Poker, DChoc Café Mahjong and DChoc Café Solitaire.
“The introduction of the DChoc Café Series combines the trend of casual games with a community environment that promotes social interaction,” said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “The DChoc Café Series demonstrates the promise of mobile games: socially driven entertainment that allows players to stay connected with friends while playing fun, casual games.”
The games are available now on 3, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Digital Chocolate has stated that they expected 100 carriers worldwide to carry the game.
Digital Chocolate has announced their intention to publish games for the upcoming N-Gage platform from Nokia, reports the Mobile Games Blog.
The announcement comes after a long period of silence regarding any any publishers for the new gaming platform. Gregg Sauter, Nokia’s director of third party publishing, called Digital Chocolate a “perfect fit” for the N-Gage, saying that they have been “a driving force in promoting social interaction within the context of mobile gaming.” Digital Chocolate will be bringing DChoc Café to the platform, amongst other games.
“DChoc Café is a perfect complement to the Nokia’s next generation N-Gage platform,” said Gary Schofield, president of networks at Digital Chocolate. “N-Gage provides the tools we need to tap into the powerful device performance and promote social interaction between players through games, which is completely in line with Digital Chocolate’s philosophy. We’re very pleased to be teaming up with Nokia.”
Digital Chocolate has signed a deal with Korean electronics company LG to pre-load games on to the latter’s mobile phones, reports MobileIndustry.biz.
“This partnership provides Digital Chocolate the opportunity to market our games to LG’s extensive consumer base, allowing us to cast a wider net in the marketplace,” said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “LG’s reputation for quality and innovation makes them an ideal partner for Digital Chocolate to significantly broaden and enhance our reach.”
There have been no specific titles announced, but the partnership starts this month, with co-marketing to follow.
