Based on the popular PC and console series, Mercenaries 2 follows the story of a group of mercenaries battling against a power-hungry tyrant who is after Venezuela’s oil supply. There are no details yet about how the translation from console and PC to mobile will affect the gameplay.

“Pandemic Studios is a AAA developer, and we are excited to be partnering with them to bring the Mercenaries franchise to mobile,” said I-play’s president, David Gosen. “We are thrilled that Pandemic Studios has chosen I-play to expand the Mercenaries universe.”

I-play has announced that they will be developing Wanted, a mobile game based on the movie of the same name.

The announcement comes as part of I-play’s ongoing partnership with Universal Pictures. Little information has been released about the game, save that it will feature “unique character movement and gaming physics.”

“We are hugely excited to have been chosen to take one of Universal’s prized licenses for 2008 to mobile,” said I-play’s president, David Gosen. “Our heritage for creating groundbreaking concepts in mobile gaming has been proven many times before, and we look forward to re-writing the rules of gaming with ‘Wanted’, the mobile game.”

The game’s launch will coincide with the movie’s release in theaters, currently scheduled in March of 2008.

I-play releases Slingo Quest

I-play has announced the release of Slingo Quest, a mobile version of the hugely popular online game Slingo.

This is the fruit of a labor that started back in February, when I-play first announced their partnership with the Slingo company. Now the combination slots-and-bingo game has been upgraded with an island-hopping storyline.

“Slingo Quest is a well loved online casual games property and we’re excited about the impact it will have on mobile,” said I-play president David Gosen. “The Slingo franchise is also available via Oberon Media’s online platform and PixelPlay’s iTV platform, and we will naturally be looking to cross pollinate Slingo’s huge online community to mobile.”

The game is available now. It is known as Slingo Bingo in Europe.

I-play releases FIA World Rally Championship

I-play has announced the release of FIA World Rally Championship, which they began work on back in July.

The game features rally racing in 16 different countries, in all terrains and all weathers, and at any time of the day or night. I-play plans to incorporate one-thumb gameplay, but hopes to make the game difficult to master, while easy to pick up and play.

“High speed frenzied action, with detailed and incredibly high quality graphics, will raise WRC above and beyond any other mobile rally racing game,” said David Gosen, President of I-play. “Staying true to I-play’s casual development philosophy, the game will incorporate ‘one thumb’ play and will be easy to get into, but challenging to master.”

Both the 2D version of the game, developed internally by I-play, and the 3D version, developed by Firemint, will be distributed worldwide.

I-play releases ER Rush

I-play has announced the release of their new hospital sim called ER Rush.

Taking on the role of a new Junior Emergency Room Doctor, players must diagnose, treat, and discharge enough patients to be promoted to the next hospital. If you don’t treat the patients in time, complications will arise requiring additional treatments. The game takes a light-hearted approach to medicine, with patients including werewolves, dogs, and vampires.

“ER Rush is casual gameplay at its best, bringing a unique twist on plate spinning games, by setting the gameplay in a busy Emergency Room, with an added pinch of wacky humor,” commented I-play CEO David Gosen.

I-play to publish casual titles for N-Gage

Nokia has announced that I-play will be publishing a line of casual games for the upcoming N-Gage platform.

The first two games from I-play will be World Rally Championship, officially licensed from the FIA WRC, and Super Mah Jong, from the makers of Jewel Quest. I-play’s lineup for the platform will consist of casual, one-thumb gameplay titles which offer the “dip in, dip out” style that the company is known for.

“I-play brings a diverse games portfolio to N-Gage, and we’re excited to have them on board,” said Gregg Sauter, Director of 3rd Party Publishing for Nokia. “The N-Gage toolset provides the opportunity to deliver new features and richer experiences to consumers through I-play’s strong portfolio of content. We look forward to this cooperation.”

I-play CEO David Gosen stated that the company was “very excited” about the agreement.

I-play releases The Fast and the Furious: Fugitive

I-play has announced the release of The Fast and Furious: Fugitive, fourth sequel in the long-running and very popular racing series.

The Fast and the Furious: Fugitive is based on the two movies and fills in gaps in the storyline. Players take on the role of hero Brian O’Conner as he flees from L.A. to Miami. In order to clear his name and get police badge back, O’Conner must go up against top street racers across the country as he tries to bring down an international crime syndicate.

“BREW customers have a treat in store with The Fast and The Furious: Fugitive 3D. This game has been developed by our internal team who continually raise the bar in terms of innovation, and have created a visually stunning 3D game,” said David Gosen, CEO of I-play. “Some of the visual effects that add to the game’s realism include the reflection of the clouds and buildings in the rear window and the pre-race cinematography that’s pulled straight from the movies.”

The game makes extensive use of QUALCOMM’s BREW solution.

I-play release Metal Slug 3

I-play has teamed up with SNK Playmore to launch a mobile version of the classic side-scroller Metal Slug 3.

Players take on the role of Sergeant Allen O’Neil as he battles through hordes of enemies, gaining new weapons and vehicles while rescuing survivors. The Metal Slug series has always had detailed graphics and animations, and I-play has made sure that carries over the mobile version.

“Metal Slug has enjoyed strong success on mobile, remaining a constant feature on game decks worldwide and achieving over a million downloads,” said David Gosen, I-play’s CEO. “It’s a much loved gaming brand that provides an easy to pick-up and play gaming experience, inspired by one of the greatest arcade classics.”

The game is available now worldwide.
