LG to launch phone watch at CES 2009

LG will be unveiling a phone watch at CES. The device will have a 1.43-inch colour touchscreen and will offer video conferencing due to its video camera built into the watch’s face. The watch will also have MP3 file support, “Text To Speech”, voice dialing with speech recognition and Bluetooth. Sounds pretty awesome huh? I’m going to have to pick one up just for the novelty factor.

LG Prada 2 and Bluetooth-enabled watch Prada Link

with Bluetooth watch

LG’s Prada was among the first touch screen devices in Korea. It’s elegant design and expensive branding made it a hit with Seoul’s young and trendy. It’s successor, the Prada 2, will be arriving in Europe along with a Bluetooth-enabled watch called the Prada Link (model LG-LBA-T950) that flashes call notifications and shows SMS messages. The Prada 2 will have all the great specs you would expect from a luxury device such as 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, 5 megapixel camera, haptic feedback, video calling, slider QWERTY keypad, and a 240 x 400 3″ touchscreen. Oh yeah, and it’s 300 euros.

Swarovski Bluetooth set - shove some crystal in yer ear

Swarovsky Bluetooth earpiece

This looks like the gaudy jewelery that my grandmother wears so I would never buy one, but I see a market for it. Techno savvy grandmothers and crystal loving baby boomers would love this piece. I haven’t tried it out but I was at the local Swarovsky store buying for my girlfriend and they told me this has just come out. I would love to see them trick out my iPhone. Actually, I’m going to call them about that now. Don’t remember the exact price, but I think it retailed for abotu $150.

Near Field Communication technology gives mobile marketing a new edge

WALL-E movie poster from Japan

Near Field Communication technology allows a company to send information such as images, music and movie clips to cellphones over the air, all without having to sit there and wait to discover devices like Bluetooth does. This technology was used in Japan during a test run at Chiba shopping mall. The above poster would allow people to receive promo materials from the poster by holding their mobile within a meter or so. BTW, I think QB is moving to Japan where all the narliest tech seems to be.
