Free iPhone apps and games - huge discounts and savings

Steve Jobs

TouchArcade has done a great job of putting together a list of discounted iPhone apps and games. The list includes a ton of games that have become free as well as some significant price drops. I haven’t done a Black Friday post yet so this is it. Because I’ve spent the last 3 Thanksgivings in Asia and the Middle East, to be totally honest I just found out about Black Friday about a week ago and I still don’t really get it. Why do people want to shop after Thanksgiving? Are you drunk on turkey and need to spend cash? Anyways, great prices after the jump.t

Android apps now available from Handango

Android apps are now available at Handango. Click the pic or the banner at the bottom to check them out. Some of the apps available include:

  • TETRIS
  • Mobiola Video Studio: Watch your favorite Videos, DVD, YouTube, iTunes on mobile
  • IM+ All-in-One Messenger AIM/iChat , MSN/Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber and Google Talk
  • I’m curious to see how this app store compares to not only the on-device carrier driven store we’ve been told will arrive, but Android Market. How will Android Market be the great storefront it needs to be with all of these competitors at its door?

    Wordpress for the iPhone

I’m trying out the Wordpress app for the iPhone right now. The UI is great for a mobile application as per most iPhone apps. The app is really restricted to issues relating to the iPhone itself. For example, it’s taking me ages to write this and I’ve made about a bajillion mistakes. This app isn’t really meant for pro bloggers it seems but would work great for Britney’s Blog about Britney. BTW, made that up but if it exists that would be even funnier.

Some other issues include, no picture placement settings, html code manipulation, or video embedding. This all makes for a boring blog post and review. Sorry.

Update: you can manipulate the HTML if you go back after publishing and edit the post. Cut and paste would make this app worthwhile.

T-Mobile to copy iTunes App Store and offer more for less

T-Mobile going to copy the App Store

“These people are biting our style guys.”

T-Mobile has learned a lot from the iPhone and it may be making some moves that are about to make other carriers punch themselves square in the jaw and wonder why they didn’t do something similar.

This fall, T-Mobile will be giving its mobile content purchasing system a complete overhaul.
Customers will be able to download apps much in the same way that iTunes provies its apps. Rather than providing software to customers based on big corporate deals and handshakes, T-Mobile will be providing the apps based on an open community of developers.

The “I Am Rich” application for the iPhone revealed

Friday’s big news was about the “I Am Rich” application on the Apple App Store that cost $1000 and just displayed a glowing red ruby.
The application was pretty controversial because it showed that Apple is willing to not only display any app out there on its store, but that they’ll also take down any app they want without explanation. Probably a couple lines in the Terms of Service covers their ass.

Beware of iTunes scams - App store hoaxes

    Rich guy in furs

“Thanks for the app download chummmmmmmm-P!.

Recently, an app appeared on the iTunes store called “I Am Rich” and it cost $999.99. The most expensive an app can be. An American user, who goes by Lee5279xx to protect his stupidity, bought the application saying:

“I saw this app with a few friends and we jokingly clicked ‘buy’ thinking it was a joke, to see what would happen. I forgot my wife had ‘iclick’ activated on my laptop, and it really bought it for $999.”

iTunes has since taken down the app but we’re warning everyone that if you click ‘buy’, you will get screwed.

Copy & Paste comes to the iPhone and it’s near useless

First Look - MagicPad from Apple iPhone Apps on Vimeo.

Copy and Paste solely in a text editor isn’t going to cut it guys.

Oooh, MagicPad has found a way to copy and paste in a text editor. Thank you MagicPad! Now I can…Well…Um…Copy and paste a “to do” list so I have twice as much work. Great. I’m almost mad at this company for creating such a buzz around the internet because they know we all want copy and paste for the iPhone and as soon as the headlines came we totally freaked. And then came the giant, epic and disastrous letdown. I can’t imagine needing copy and paste solely in a text editor. This day is officially ruined and a write-off.
