Last Call iPhone app helps you get super drunk

Get drunk

The Last Call app for the iPhone tells you just how drunk you are. This seems a little redundant because I have a brain app that tells me when I’m drunk and it’s backed up by a mouth app that starts to slur after 5 drinks. In any case, the app will even suggest a course of action after you’ve had one too many such as calling a cab. I was kinda hoping it would suggest something along the lines of “that girl to your right just broke up with her boyfriend. Move in!”

Barack Obama to recover from crackberry addiction

soon to end

Barack Obama has talked about his BlackBerry before, saying that it’s his guilty pleasure and he can’t stop checking his email. Well all of that may have to change because according to the law, the general public must have access to his entire official correspondence. Clinton also had to cease e-mail services because of this same issue. The only solution proposed would be an email system where he could receive but not send. If that’s the case, maybe Barack will be able to enjoy a BlackBerry Pluto after all (I assume he gets unreleased devices from RIM).

Makers of mobile phone viral video scorned

Remember those videos of the kids popping popcorn with their mobile phones? Well it looked like a hoax and it turned out to be one. The video was meant as a viral marketing campaign to get people to buy more Bluetooth headsets. The logic was fairly simple in that if you can convince people to not put a phone to their ear, they’ll buy a headset.

About 5 months after the video was revealed as fake, the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus released a statement saying the following:

Adobe Flash runs on Android mobile devices

At the Adobe MAX conference, Andy Rubin demoed Flash running on the Android G1 to prove that the platform worked well on mobile. The demo was also somewhat of a call-out to Apple to say that their platform should be on the iPhone, and they no longer have excuses to not implement it. During the same presentation, Rubin confirmed that Google and Adobe are working together to make sure Flash runs on Android devices.

Slydial for BlackBerry lets you dial straight to voicemail

Slydial is a free service that let’s you dial any mobile phone number and get directed straight to voicemail, which can be helpful when you have to communicate with someone without wanting to, you know, communicate.

Previously, using Slydial was a bit cumbersome, requiring you to call “267-SLYDIAL” first then manually entering the number you’d like to call. However, Slydial has launched an application for BlackBerry, allowing you to simply select a contact from your address book. You can find a download link below, as well as a link to more Slydial videos. My personal favorite was the “Mulligan” video, but I couldn’t find any embed code.

Voice-based web search for Google Mobile App for iPhone

And not Android

Personally, I don’t find typing in search queries into Google all that difficult, but Google plans to have a mobile application that will allow you to say your search terms rather than type them. The strange fact in this news is that it’s going to launch on the iPhone first.

The reason for this is that Google has separated its mobile division from its Android division. The mobile team is therefore only concerned with getting apps out the door and selling, rather than creating a better mobile community for a select group of device owners.

“I want to bring the most valuable applications to as many users as possible,” said Gummi Hafsteinsson, senior product manager for the mobile team. “We treat all high-end [mobile] platforms equally.”

In order to get the voice search, all you have to do is have the Google Mobile App for iPhone. The voice search will come in the form of an update. To use speak search, simply open the app, hold the phone up to your ear and tell the Google Genie what your heart desires. Stay tuned for the update!

  • A friend of mine once went on The Price is Right and he managed to win the whole showcase. Although it wasn’t what he expected. At the end of it, you have all these prizes, but you have to pay tax on them. In the end, I think he walked away with a few hundred and was told to keep quiet about his winnings.
