Editor in Chief of QuicklyBored, Kyle has worked some interesting jobs that have taken him all over the world. In 2007, Kyle developed a website for the Foreign Trade Administration, while living in Jerusalem, Israel. In 2008 Kyle moved to Daejeon South Korea, to teach English and develop his writing. He is currently dedicating most of his time to QuicklyBored but he’s also working hard to develop SmartPhoneCool, WindowsMobileCool and AndroidCool, all websites under the Smoke Labs banner.
With a half-decade of experience in the wireless industry, Douglas “tr0n” Soltys has seen mobile entertainment quickly evolve from early childhood to its now impetuous teen years. The original founder of QuicklyBored in 2005, Douglas still acts as a contributing editor, but now spends most of his time as EIC of BlackBerry Cool, QB’s sister site. Prior to QuicklyBored, Douglas worked for a variety of smartphone software developers in the Ottawa area. When not blogging about all things mobile, tr0n can be found fixing Kyle’s programming mistakes.
Bambi has a diverse background with experience in music, the arts, teaching and… butchering. Her education consists of degrees in History and Anthropology. On top of writing for WindowsMobile Cool, she is currently a writer at TransCanada Radio. For years she worked for building and testing industrial electronics for an international company. She then moved on to teaching computer hardware and software to government workers and foreign ambassadors visiting Canada before she landed here at Smoke Labs.
Wes Tam has worked in the mobile gaming space for 4 + years as a programmer, game designer and producer. He relinquished his duties as Lead Programmer to work full time as a producer and lead designer focused on large scaled Triple-A projects at Magmic Games. Previously, he worked in the R&D group of a 3D Television Animation Startup on procedural animation systems as well as procedural entertainment content on mobile devices. He is also actively engaged with local colleges and universities to promote the video game industry in Ottawa Canada. In addition to maintaining a personal blog on the mobile industry, and working with QuicklyBored, Wes is working on several personal projects for next generation mobile gaming.
Matt “W4LNUT” Cameron
W4LNUT, or as we’ve taken to calling him, “Wallet”, has helped do any and every video you’ve seen on QuicklyBored that is remotely cool. If it wasn’t cool, it was done by Kyle. Before being a Level 99 Final Cut Warlock, Matt worked in the mobile games industry for about 2 years. His real creative juices flow when he does his VJ’ing sets for various bars and nightclubs around the city. All in all, he has been cultivating a career as a video artist for about 5 years. He is entirely self-taught and really good at what he does. If you’re ever in the Ottawa area, check out the Mercury Lounge, where he might grace you with his presence.
Simon’s vertical superiority (he is 6′8″) is matched only by his scrutinous eye and hyperbolic vocabulary. Schooled in language, and tempered in a lifetime of technological immersion, his ongoing service to BlackBerry Cool brings concise information and thoughtful insights to those following the fastest-growing mobile platform out there. Simon contributes all things to do with BlackBerrys and entertainment.
Ted eats, breathes and sleeps the consumer/prosumer end of the mobile industry. For the time being, Ted is currently being paid millions of won/month to act like a kid just outside of Seoul in South Korea. Amongst other things he looks forward to offering an outsiders look in, of the South Korean telecom industry while relentlessly trying to bed a Korean girl crazy enough to let him use her domestic credit card to get a mobile contract and escape the shackles that is a Korean pre-paid cell account. He also knows a thing or two about Rogers Retention plans.
Devin has been blogging about gaming for over five years, from Macs to PCs to consoles in general, and started at QuicklyBored in early 2007. When he’s not posting to QB he’s working for a wide variety of sites including our sister site BlackBerry Cool.
