T-Mobile has learned a lot from the iPhone and it may be making some moves that are about to make other carriers punch themselves square in the jaw and wonder why they didn’t do something similar.
This fall, T-Mobile will be giving its mobile content purchasing system a complete overhaul. Customers will be able to download apps much in the same way that iTunes provies its apps. Rather than providing software to customers based on big corporate deals and handshakes, T-Mobile will be providing the apps based on an open community of developers.
DVDs, TV shows, music and home movies are all easily managed.
Syncplicity (syncplicity.com) launches an iPhone optimized website in time for the launch of Appleās 3G phone. Now iPhone and iPod Touch users can easily access their data from anywhere.
Bad news for Apple. Good news for customers. With Syncplicity, it no longer matters how many GBs you have on your iPhone because your data lives in the cloud. Kiss those data-hogs that clog up the smaller GB iPhones goodbye.

Flixwagon is a tool for live video broadcasting to the Web via smartphones, is working on a version for the Apple iPhone and Windows Mobile devices. Walt Mossberg has posted a video regarding his thoughts on the Samsung Instinct and he is definitely not impressed. According to Engadget Mobile, Mossberg mentions the word “iPhone” 31 times compared to mentioning the Instinct 19 times. This is pretty obvious in the review and it makes sense considering the Instinct was a result of carriers that couldn’t carry the iPhone requiring something to fill the touch market. Overall, Mossberg feels the Instinct isn’t a very good device but at $200 on contract, it is still affordable. Oh yeah, and the Instinct has live TV and the iPhone doesn’t.
This is the last of our BREW 2008 videos. It’s been a blast but the show must go on folks. Now all we have to do is get our web dev guy off the couch and have him take down the BREW images.
Here we are learning about all that mSpot has to offer. Their flagship product, Make-UR-Tones, won them best up and coming application. Check out the video of them winning here. In this video, we’re talking with Brent Sharpless, VP of Business Development.
Sony Ericsson is releasing the Cyber-shot C905, codenamed “Shiho”. Get this, the phone has an 8.1 megapixel camera. What?! Only now does it make sense to buy a phone for its camera. Not only does the camera have more megapixels than my personal Canon, it comes with both xenon and LED flashes (for still and video capture, respectively). On top of all that, it’s looking like a decent media phone with TV out, DLNA certification, and HSDPA.
Verizon has announced a partnership with Pearl Jam to help them get into the mobile space. They’ll be touring 12 American cities this summer and Eddie Vedder will be promoting his custom mobile video featuring the track “Guaranteed”, the theme from Into the Wild. BTW, that movie was awesome and Pearl Jam was awesome circa 1990.
