BlackBerry Pluto: The BlackBerry Bold touch screen device.
I’ve been reading a lot of confusion on the web about the BlackBerry Magnum and the BlackBerry Pluto. Many are confused which BlackBerry touch screen the respective codenames are associated with.
BlackBerry Magnum (9220)
This touch screen device will be modeled on the BlackBerry Curve 8900 design, but will include 3G.
BlackBerry Pluto (9900)
Again a touch screen device, but this one will be modeled on the BlackBerry Bold design.

Could the Motorola Android device come out looking like this?
Recently, BusinessWeek confirmed that Motorola will be launching an Android phone worldwide. I have not seen any leaked concept images of the device, but I do know a few of the specs. The device will come with a 3.5″ touchscreen, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a host of social networking features.
The device reportedly takes some of its design cues from the new Motorola Krave ZN4. This is especially weird to me because the ZN4 is a pretty terrible looking flip phone. I’m surprised they wouldn’t go for something more elegant like the MOTO Q.
So here is my proposal: the Motorola Android device will look much like James Piatt’s Plica concept phone. It’s a clamshelle touch screen device that would be a great competitor once imbued with Google. I for one would love to see this phone developed.

I am really sorry to say that one of the best mobile phone mods I have ever seen doesn’t work. But wow, imagine if it did? The steampunk styled phone uses a binary punch-card system to dial numbers. I wonder how difficult it would be to slip in some real phone parts and have the punch-card system work. It would be perfect for my 90 year old grandfather.

The Portuguese company Ndrive, will be releasing a device called the Ndrive S400. The S400 comes with HSDPA, quad-band EDGE, and a 2,8” VGA 640×480 touch screen, 3 megapixel autofocus cam, G-Sensor (i.e. tilt sensor), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, internal GPS and two processors (Marvell and Qualcomm). This could be a rumor but the Portuguese websites I’ve been looking at seem to handle the info as fact. I think this will be the first dual processor device powered by WinMo.

A Touch HD Pro is a great idea. There are many situations where you’ll be much more comfortable typing on a keyboard than you would on a touch screen. Emails, for example, are best written on a keyboard. The BlackBerry Storm is supposed to revolutionize the way we type on a touch screen, but even they might be abandoning that format for the BlackBerry Magnum. The BlackBerry Magnum, for those who haven’t heard, is basically a BlackBerry Curve with a touch screen. Making it a heavy duty Treo-like device.
Size isn’t really a big deal for me because it usually means a bigger screen which is fine by me. That being said, I’m still curious to see how big the HTC Touch HD Pro will be.

Mobile@Mail.Ru put together great comparison shots of the LG Renoir vs the Samsung Pixon. Both phones are 8 MP camera phones and if you’re unsure which one you should buy, these comparisons should help you make up your mind.
Spec-wise, the Renoir is the better camera phone. According to BGR, “the Renoir offers a Schneider-Kreuznach Lens and a Xenon flash which on paper (and in practice) outperforms the cheap plastic lens and dual LED flash of the Pixon. The Renoir also has an active autofocus which the reviewer deems superior to the Pixon’s passive autofocus.”

Radar is reporting that the T-Mobile G1 launch party was filled with models for hire. Jack White, Jay-Z and DJ Cassidy all made appearances at the party. Here is what the Radar reporter had to say, he was clearly still on a natural high from being surrounded by so many babes:
And then there were the models. Seriously, at one point, it seemed like every other female in the room—a large, loft-like space in Manhattan’s West Village—was some long-limbed, non-English speaking beauty. At a tech party, no less! What gives? Weird coincidence, or are nerds suddenly cool again?
The above picture is from Last Night’s Party and I bet it’s what the G1 launch party was like.

P@sco, a cool Italian dude posted a review of the N85. The review is entirely in Italian and contains some decent screenshots. All About Symbian picked it up and one of their members translated the key points of the review.
I’ve taken a few points from their article, but I recommend checking All About Symbian for more.

This is the Limited Edition Samsung Soul has been renamed simply the Black & Gold. It’s got a nice slider form to it but the black and gold colors just seem a little tacky to me. I can see someone whose into bling enjoying this phone. The phone has decent specs with a 5-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and OLED-equipped d-pad. The Limited Edition is only $40 more than the original.
