Wow. We knew that the 3G iPhone was going to be a slick device, but we didn’t know how slick. Along with a bunch of other developer related stuff at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, head honcho Steve Jobs showed the world today just how cool gaming will be on iPhone 2.0.
Quick rundown? Super Monkey Ball, check. Cro-Mag Rally, a Super Mario Kart style racing game, check. Kroll, a God of War style action game that looks prettier than any mobile game ever, check. Oh and some cool apps to let you make your own music, check.

Qualcomm and Universal Music issued a joint announcement today that they’ve partnered to bring more of Universal’s direct-to-consumer content to your mobile phone. What does that mean, exactly? You’re going to be able to get content like ringtones, video ringones and wallpapers of your favorite Universal artists directly from Universal to your phone without having to deal with those pesky carriers. Glu Mobile is one of the top mobile game publishers, period (Super KO anyone?). So when Kyle and I ran into Jill Braff, Glu’s senior VP of Global Publishing, in the elevator after we arrived at Hyatt, we knew we had to get her on an interview podcast. So we promptly kidnapped her and forced her to talk about Glu’s global strategy, the realities of being a public company, how great the iPhone is, and when Super KO 2 is coming out. Enjoy.

While I wait for my wicked awesome interview with Glu Mobile’s Jill Braff, I thought I’d hit you guys with some quick impressions from day 1 of BREW.
**Twitter Sucks** Seriously. Initiate a pay service so I don’t have my tweets go down during a great conference, forcing me to write up a full impressions post to keep our readers informed about the QB day to day.
**The sessions are GREAT** We arrived late in the afternoon yesterday, but the two we caught were dynamite. Anders Evju of I-Play gave a great talk about why essentially QuicklyBored exists (read Kyle’s thoughts here), and the flash lite panel moderated by Eric Goldberg has me wondering when I’ll be able to discover the next great mobile game via Facebook. Expect more on both to follow.
**The food is GREAT** Chicken dumplings. That’s all I’m going to say.
**No wi-fi is lame** Qualcomm, I love you, but I need to get my blog on from everywhere, not just the press room.
**I’m lost** Maybe it’s just the jet lag, but every year I come to the Manchester Grand Hyatt and have no idea how to navigate it. This place is huge.
**BREWfest** Lightning crashes. That’s all I’m going to say. Except, I heard a rumor that last year’s BREWfest dance competition winner is looking to defend her crown. I have 2:1 that she does, any takers?

When I got my Pearl, one of the first things I did was take the obligatory pictures of myself making goofy faces in my bathroom mirror. The Pearl doesn’t have what you’d call a great camera, but it still sucks viewing pictures on the tiny little screen. I’m not sure why I have all this fancy technology at my fingertips if I’m just going to email stuff to myself (that’s so very 1999), so it’s time to set up Bluetooth.

If you follow QuicklyBored with any regularly, you’ll already know that we have something of a love affair with Glu going on. From the review of Super K.O. Boxing to, well… this very interview, you can easily see that we keep a close eye on what the folks at Glu are up to. The reason is simple: Glu is working very hard to position itself at the epicenter of the burgeoning mobile games market. From the easy-to-learn, hard-to-master casual fare that cell phone games are known for to heavyweight branding (such as tie-in games for the upcoming Transformers movie), Glu isn’t kidding around with trying to keep its bases covered and, more importantly, its foot in the door where the future of the industry is concerned. Justin Kubiak, Glu’s Senior Director of Marketing took some time out to answer QuicklyBored’s questions and give us some insight into what makes Glu the force to be reckoned with in the mobile gaming space that it has clearly become.
