BlackBerry Storm updates and specs

RIM

The BlackBerry Storm, RIM’s first consumer touch screen device, goes on sale from November 17th in the US. The device is expected to satisfy the more demanding prosumers with a wide range of media capabilities.

  • MPEG4 and YouTube video
  • Music player will play MP3, WMA and AAC encoded files
  • iTunes syncing
  • BlackBerry Music Sync software
  • 3.5mm jackplug
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture
  • SMS and MMS
  • BlackBerry Maps and assisted GPS
  • 3G, quad band GSM handset with HSDPA support
  • Although the above specs are impressive, the real improvement will be the ‘clickable’ touch screen. The device has a haptic vibration type of system that makes the screen seem like it has physical buttons on it that you can press.

With all this great hardware, I’m hoping the software comes strong too. RIM’s software portal should be able to serve up some great content for this device.
