How-to turn off SMS ‘WhoCalled’ alerts on the iPhone

Customer Service

[UPDATE: The customer service "magic words" are "ask for the ‘missed called notification’ to be excluded from your package."]

I don’t mean to link bait or anything with the title, because the answer is just “call customer service“, but what an annoying feature! Here is what happens when I miss a call:

  • The phone rings, and I let it go because I’m busy with something else.
  • They leave a voicemail. I see that.
  • Then I get an SMS notification about the voicemail. Thank I know.
  • Then I get an SMS notification about the missed call. Yeah I get it!
  • Then I have all the above information copied in my logs, just in case I somehow got amnesia and forgot.
  • I’ve recently had the features turned off but I couldn’t help explaining to customer service that this sort of notification process is borderline harassment.

Any advice on what to say to them? I’ve talked to 2 different reps now and in order to cancel the WhoCalled, but still get the visual voicemail, call display and texting it would increase my bill by $9. Obviously, no one should have to pay more to have something disabled, but that’s all I can get from them. I’ve put an email into them as well, which is what they instructed me to do, so we’ll see, but if you know the magic words please share :)

Hey Lux, thanks for the comment. I just called Rogers again for you and asked about your situation. Here is what my corporate rep told me:

“What they need to do is ask for the ‘missed called notification’ to be excluded from their package.”

This will not cost you anything. Let me know if you have any other problems.
