Hands-free user interface is the next big thing

Touch screens are all the rage right now but it’s going to be hands-free that will take over after the hype dies down. Maybe not entirely, but it will at least be complementary to the touch screen system. Here is Ohad from the Mobile Game Developer Magazine at the Symbian Smartphone Show 2008.

“Itay Katz, eyeSight’s CEO, presents the company technology, which uses the phone cameras to bring gesture recognition into the mobile world.”

I once interviewed the guys from Gesturetek who have a very similar technology that they’re working with NTT DoCoMo to make games with. Check out some of the first QB videos on our Blip reel to watch their technology in action. According to their CEO, the technology is loved by the Japanese who aren’t happy with the smudges left on touch screens.
