RIM’s next big consumer device

RIM has a new consumer device coming to market

Could this be RIM’s new consumer device?

A recent article published in the Globe and Mail has a quote from Jim Balsillie, CEO of RIM, that could tell us a lot about upcoming BlackBerrys.

Just watch what you’re going to see in the autumn of 2008. I think we’ve given people a little peek-a-boo on all that. We feel like there was a lot of hype over the summer relating to different things and we just kind of kept our powder dry … we’re not done yet.

Here is my interpretation: the “peek-a-boo” is the BlackBerry Storm. Therefore, the device that will hit in Autumn, will have elements of the Storm and more. I’m therefore predicting that the device will be the touchscreen LCD slider that RIM filed a patent for earlier this year. This will make them a little behind the market on hide-away sliders, but still a great move on their part. Lets see if I’m right.
