iControl pad - turn your iPhone into a PSP-style gaming device

A mobile controller for the iphone

The iControl pad has been picking up some fame over at Gizmodo and TouchArcade. I remember seeing video about this back in June when the pad was just in development. The iControl pad has four face buttons, a D pad, Start/Select and an LED to show when it’s in use. This is exactly what console gaming needs for the iPhone. I’d love to try it out on some of the emulators that have been popping up.

The Ply - a cool concept phone from Japan

The Ply from Japan is a cool concept phone

Japan’s KDDI has put out some pretty great concept phones including a Yamaha-branded musical instrument phone. The latest, Ply, is inspired by…yep, you guessed it, plywood. The layers represent the phone’s various features which include a printer, pico-projector, and analog clock with a minute hand that actually swings out beyond the body of the phone itself. I would love this phone to come to North America.

iHologram for the iPhone creates hologram on 2D surface

iHologram - iPhone application from David OReilly on Vimeo
iHologram for the iPhone was created by David O’Reilley and it’s pretty revolutionary. The app creates the illusion of a 3D cat that walks around your screen.

iHologram combines anamorphosis and the iPhone’s gyroscopes to achieve this awesome visual magic trick. Anamorphosis is a way to draw things distorted so, while watched at a certain angle, they pop out of the 2D surface as if they were real.
