Americans are buying more smartphones

Paris Hilton and her BlackBerry

“This phone is like totally smart.”

You’ve probably noticed that here at QuicklyBored, we’ve got a pretty big focus on smartphones. It’s not that we don’t think that dumbphones can’t be entertaining, but rather smartphones are the most entertaining. So you can understand our joy to read that Americans are spending more money on cell phones due to the rapid rise of smartphones like the BlackBerry.

The average cost of a cell phone has risen to $84, up 14% from Q2 of 2007. This doesn’t include iPhone purchases either. Which, as we all know, would make the average cost something closer to a bajillion.

Also check out Simon’s post at BlackBerry Cool, who also loves the smartphone rise for obvious reasons.
