Quake being ported to iPhone by id Software

We’ve seen videos of Quake being ported to the iPod touch and the whole time most of us wondered where id Software was on all of this but now we know: they were sitting in the boardroom thinking “damn, why didn’t we think of that?”

John Carmack, id Software’s founder and technical director, said he regrets that scheduling conflicts prevented id from having an iPhone game ready in time for the App Store launch earlier this month. However, he added: “We have a title we want to develop exclusively for iPhone… I’m not announcing anything specifically, but it would be a graphical tour de force.”
