Bell and Telus to charge for incoming SMS

Where the discussion is:

The general discussion has been centered around the fact that subscribers will likely shift from Bell and Telus to Rogers due to their new policy of charging for incoming SMS.

The reason is simple, you cannot stop someone from sending you an SMS and thus forcing you to pay for something you did not agree to. It is a clear violation of your rights.

Where we should take the conversation:

How will this affect other internet companies? For example, I get Twitter updates on my phone and if I’m going to be charged for incoming SMS, that is Twitter finished for me. Will other internet companies feel the hurt?

BlackBerry Bold distant second to iPhone 3G demand
