BEST OF 2008: How to save money on your phone bill

Looking to save some cash on your phone bill? Sascha Segan at PC Mag had $35 dollars taken off his phone bill and I’ll tell you how he did it. In order to get these discounts, you will have to be very bold with your carrier and make threats that you wouldn’t otherwise make. Remember, you are trying to tap into the customer retention plans and processes that carriers have in place to keep your business. If you don’t come across as frustrated and willing to walk away from it all, you’ve lost your ability to properly negotiate.

High score

Doug and I just finished a solid round of Zombie Attack! by IUGO and his score is ridiculous. At first I thought that it was the best score that anyone has ever had on Zombie Attack! I’ve posted his screenshot above, which shows his score just before he died. Amazing! My hat goes off to this guy. I’ll quote his story below for your enjoyment. Nice one hyk!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Years guys! Today I’ll be reposting my favorite articles from 2008. There isn’t really much of a criteria as to why I think they’re my favorite article, it could be traffic but it could also just be a funny quip in the writing somewhere. Anyhoozers, enjoy the read!

More iPhone Nano rumors

Personally, I don’t find the size of the iPhone to be an issue but a nano version would surely generate some sales. Well the rumor has recently been boosted by the fact that Vaja has added an iPhone Nano category to its site. I have a feeling that this is just an attempt to drive traffic to the case manufacturer’s site.

Spy shots leaked of OpenMoko running Android

I’m really tired of spy shots being so blurry. Sometimes I think there’s no such thing as a “leak” and it’s always some marketing guy playing games with the internet. The blurry pics back up this theory because it keeps a hype going without actually revealing anything. BTW how boring is this post? Sorry.

iFart iPhone app sets record sales on App Store

iFart is a great example of what sells on the App Store. It’s the perfect app for conspicuous consumption. The app has had huge success with respect to sales as well, bringing in a reported $10,000 in a single day.

“Joel Comm, developer of iFart Mobile, published download statistics of his app, and this week it stood at No. 1 overall with over 13,000 downloads.”

If anything, this should serve as an example of how to make money with an iPhone app.

LG to launch phone watch at CES 2009

LG will be unveiling a phone watch at CES. The device will have a 1.43-inch colour touchscreen and will offer video conferencing due to its video camera built into the watch’s face. The watch will also have MP3 file support, “Text To Speech”, voice dialing with speech recognition and Bluetooth. Sounds pretty awesome huh? I’m going to have to pick one up just for the novelty factor.

Mirror app for the iPhone - as if the it needed more vanity

The guys who made this app are easily the funniest guys in the business. Their app is not only great but the press release they sent out is so sarcastic it’s amazing. The app, turns your screen black in order to create a reflection. Here is what they have to say about it:

We’ve spent almost 8 months in R&D developing technology to put a black background on your iPhone. Go ahead and stare into your iPhone with pride. Our aim is to provide millions of people with that sort of confidence in their lives,” said Dan Paik, CTO of Juice Wireless and the mastermind behind the Mirror apps.

Imagine that wasn’t sarcasm? I would seriously wonder what they were doing during their 8 months of R&D.
