WWDC NEWS: The 3G iPhone officially unveiled

The new 3G iPhone has just been unveiled and it’s got thinner edges, a full plastic back and a flush headphone jack. Apple is pushing the phone internationally and looking to make it affordable. During the keynote, Jobs made the comment that the iPhone is being used in many more countries than it is being sold officially. Of course!

With the iPhone going 3G, we can expect pages to load 36% faster than the N95 or Treo 750. The battery life is going strong with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio.

The iPhone will be using A-GPS which is assisted GPS that using both satellite and cellular towers to get the positioning.

Apple hopes to launch in 70 countries this year. 8GB is available for $199, 16GB for $299 — and the 16GB comes in white. Apple will be hitting the 22 biggest markets, including the US, on July 11th.
