New Nokia phones come out with bad timing

Timing is a big part of releasing a new cell phone and your company is doing a terrible job if it’s releasing anything during the WWDC 3G iPhone release. Pictured above, we have the N85, 5800 XpressMedia and N79. The N85, which is labeled N00 as all Nseries handsets are in the early prototype phase, is a dual slide a la N95 / N96. The N85 will have a 5 megapixel Zeiss lens camera with a dual LED flash. As for the other phones, the N79 is similar in design to the N81 but will likely offer unique features. We’ll see.

Soooo…do you think Nokia is shitting its pants at the iPhone price point? The N96 is going to be around $800. Huge disparity is an understatement. Why in sweet tap dancing Jesus would any one buy an N96?

You’re absolutely right, the entire Nokia staff have changed into their brown pants just in case.

I guess you would pay for an N96 if you really wanted a good camera on your phone. The iPhone camera is only 2 megapixels and they didn’t improve anything with the 3G release. But a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens is just short of tubular.

But once again, $800? No thanks. I’ll buy an iPhone and have money left over for a new camera.
