Beware of ringtone scams - They are everywhere

Here is a typical ringtone scam: your coworker puts a flyer on your desk and tells you “hey, you should download that ringtone and do a post about it.” Then you say “but dude, it costs $3.50.” And he goes “no way dude.” And then you show him the fine print that says “$3.50 PER DOWNLOAD” and he goes “well forget that!”

If you’re ever going to download a ringtone, do not download it via SMS. It will always charge you a ridiculous sum of money. Not only will you get hit with the $3.50 for the song, but you’ll also get hit with a data charge, maybe a fee for the SMS itself and they’ll probably send you a bunch of spam afterwards. So just don’t do it. K?
