Uploading AVI’s to the BlackBerry Curve

I have tried a few times to get videos on my BlackBerry and it has been a real pain. YouTube is not compatible with the BlackBerry and TinyTube is so bad that you shouldn’t waste your time with it. After some quick Google searches, I came across a clean looking video converter by Mediacell. Since I’m a Mac user, I had to use my friend’s PC because BlackBerrys and Macs don’t work together like Itchy and Scratchy.

Mediacell’s BlackBerry video converter is really easy to use and supports all the necessary BlackBerry’s. All I had to do was point to the file, select my device and it did the rest.
Once the video is finished resizing and being filled with fairy magic, you can drag and drop the file directly from the program to your “video” folder. After that just load up the media player and start the film.

As you can see the quality isn’t amazing but it’s definitely watchable. I was terrified that I would end up with some CAM quality video that I couldn’t watch but this was acceptable. The screen could be bigger so we’ll see what upgrades RIM makes to future devices. Also, the sound is a little quieter than I would have liked but with the headphones it was fine.

Tomorrow, we’ll take a look at some sweet customization tips for your BlackBerry. Enjoy!
