When we first reported that Konami was bringing their Metal Gear Solid series to mobile phones it was only announced for Japan. It’s now been released elsewhere on Verizon’s Get It Now platform, which is good to hear, although it’s disappointing that exclusivity is part of the deal.
The game puts players in control of the famous Solid Snake in a new storyline developed specifically for mobile phones. The advanced 3D engine allows players to switch the view from first to third person, and the game even takes advantage of some phone features. For instance, players with a camera phone can take a picture and the game will automatically incorporate the colors in the picture into Snake’s camouflage. It’s available for a $4.99 monthly subscription or $10.99 for unlimited use.
