Smartphones more compelling for gaming?

Smartphones
A survey by Magmic Games showed that 90% of respondents found gaming on a smartphone to be a better experience than on a traditional mobile phone.

91% of the 3,750+ surveyed said that they would be unlikely to switch back to a regular mobile phone, claiming that the larger screen size, easier control and ease of downloading were important factors in the decision. Slightly over half said that they played more on their smartphone than any other medium (PC, console, handheld, etc.). 65% purchased a game or other type of content at least once every 3 months, and 60% said they enjoyed puzzle games like tetris or sudoku more than any other type of game.

“This survey speaks volumes about the powerful riptide smartphone and BlackBerry devices are creating in the mobile entertainment market,” said Nicholas Reichenbach, executive vice president of publishing for Magmic Games. “The results suggest that positive entertainment experiences on devices are a critical factor in product adoption and loyalty. As a result, it is important for mobile carriers, OEMs and entertainment publishers to continue efforts to offer compelling entertainment products to mobile customers.”

The survey was conducted by the Information Solutions Group. Respondents were offered a 50% off coupon at Magmic’s Bplay portal for completing the survey.
