Guitar Hero III released exclusively on Verison

Activision, Verizon Wireless, and Hands-On Mobile have teamed up to release Guitar Hero III Mobile exclusively to Verizon subscribers.

The game operates in a similar fashion to its computer and console counterparts, but instead of using an actual guitar mobile gamers will instead time their presses on the numbered pad. 15 tracks are available, including Suck My Kiss by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a cover of Rock You Like A Hurricane, as well as four authentic guitars and three venues at which to play.

Any Verizon customer with a Get It Now-capable phone can purchase the game for $11.99, or spend $4.49 for monthly access.

Super Boom Boom and Skipping Stone IQ Christmas editions

Gamevil has announced holiday editions of their games Super Boom Boom and Skipping Stone IQ.

“We wanted to give a little holiday treat to everyone,” said Stephanie Huang, Marketing Manager at Gamevil. “Fans of Super Boom Boom and Skipping Stone IQ will surely enjoy the holiday editions of these games.”

Both games now include characters dressed in holiday clothing, as well as special backgrounds like falling snow that showcase the winter theme.

Gamevil releases Big Trouble on Little Earth

Gamevil has announced the release of a new game called Big Trouble on Little Earth.

The one-thumb gameplay title includes 5 mini-games, including one unlockable one, that players will have to master in order to take over the Earth. The game also includes a Challenge SMS feature. After a player achieves a high score, he or she can send an SMS to friends which includes the game played, the score, and a short message.

GlobalFun further extends Turner Broadcasting deal

Mobile developer and publisher GlobalFun has announced that they are further extending their licensing agreement with Turner Broadcasting.

The agreement started as a plan to develop and distribute a game based on The Brak Show, and was expanded to include other Adult Swim titles such as Johnny Bravo. GlobalFun will now develop and distribute even more games across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Games planned so far are Scooby Doo: Saving Shaggy, Hong Kong Phooey: Kung Fu Capers, Dexter’s Laboratory: Brain Reaction, and Cow And Chicken: Super Cow Adventure.

The games come from shows on Turner Broadcasting channels such as Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Cartoon Network Too.

PopCap launches Peggle on iPod

PopCap Games has announced the release of Peggle on Apple’s iPod.

Players launch a small silver ball down onto a playing field full of pegs. The ball then bounces off the pegs on its way down to the bottom of the screen. When the ball falls completely, all the pegs it touched are removed from the field. The game’s goal is to remove all the orange pegs from the screen. Variously colored pegs give different bonuses such as area clearing explosions and flippers at the bottom of the screen.

Disney to release Enchanted mobile game

Disney Mobile Studios has announced that they will be releasing a mobile game based on the Disney movie Enchanted.

The game features three mini-games with 14 levels each. The games are played in rotating order, and one level of each game must be played before all games advance to the next level. In the first mini-game players take control of the character Pip as he jumps through the forest collecting statue pieces. In the second, Pip and his friend Bunny must rearrange rows of fruit to reveal hidden pieces behind. Finally, Fawn and Boar must use Fawn’s quickness and Boar’s strength to bring the pieces back to the main character Giselle.

Mobile Amusements announces Astro Slots

Mobile Amusements has followed up the popularity of Aqua Slots with a new title called Astro Slots.

Astro Slots simulates a space-themed 5 reel casino slot machine which features holds and nudges as well as multiple combination payouts. A minigame called Black Hole - Lucky Planets is included to win bonuses.

The game will be released in an ad-wrapped form as well as a paid content download early in 2008.

Super Action Hero: 12 Days of Christmas edition

Korean developer Com2us has announced a “12 days of Christmas” edition of their game Super Action Hero.

Super Action Hero is an action game staring a stick-figure that collects masks to change and upgrade his powers. Starting on Christmas day, a new holiday mask will be unlocked and added to the game every day until January 6th. Each mask gives the hero new powers and give players the chance to customize him in festive ways.

Smashing Ideas games now available on Verizon

Verizon Wireless has announced that they have made a number of Flash-lite games by developer Smashing Ideas available on their network.

Through the use of Verison’s Get It Now software, players can browse through a list of available games to download demos or make purchases. There is a wide variety of games from different genres, such as Flight of the Hamsters, Mac’s Match-Up, Fickleblox, Go Sushi, and Rune Mage.

Greystripe and Digital Chocolate sign distribution deal

Digital Chocolate
Greystripe has announced a deal wherein they will distribute games by publisher Digital Chocolate.

As part of the deal, Digital Chocolate will use Greystripe’s AdWRAP technology to deliver in-game advertising, before sending the games on to Greystripe’s 20 Catalog Platform partners and GameJump.com. Games to be distributed in this way are: Tower Bloxx, Café Solitaire, Johnny Crash, Mafia Wars Yakuza, Night Club Empire, and Rollercoaster Rush.
