Gameloft has announced the release of a mobile game based on the hit NBC show Heroes.
Originally announced in March, Heroes: The Mobile Game follows the events of season one of the show, but also offers an exclusive spoiler from season two that will not be revealed to fans until later in the season–although revealing this secret is not necessary for completing the game. The game itself was written in collaboration with the show’s writers and allows gamers to experience the thrill of discovering and exploring the strange power thrust on a group of otherwise normal people. Gamers will take control of Hiro, Niki, or Peter from the show, as well as interact with other well-known characters.
“With such a massive fan-base, we knew it was critical to work closely with the writers and producers of the television series to develop a game that matched the dynamic atmosphere,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing at Gameloft. “Surpassing expectations is what we aimed for and achieved with the game, so we are very happy with the end result and look forward to fans enjoying it worldwide.”
The game is available now through most U.S. carriers.
Runestone Games and GlobalFun have announced PicoPix Winter Edition, sequel to the brain-teaser PicoPix.
Players have to use clues to solve puzzles and reveal the hidden picture. There are over 40 puzzles of varying difficulties, all of which are a variation on picross. Players are told how many consecutive groups of spaces are colored in each row and column, and must use the information to reveal the entire picture. All the puzzles in this edition have a winter theme.
“To publish the Winter Edition of PicoPix was an easy decision for us, having seen the initial uptake on PicoPix that we also publish for Runestone Games,” said GlobalFun COO Bertil Krumnack. “Seasonal games are much more interesting than games solely targeted towards one specific date, such as Christmas.”
There’s no word yet on a release date for the game.

I-play has released the results of some market research, which indicates that a great many players of casual online games are or want to be mobile gamers as well.
According to the survey, 38% of casual online gamers play mobile games as well (22% said “yes,” 16% said “sometimes”), and nearly half, or 45%, would play their favorite online games on their phone if a version were available.
When asked how often they play games, 66% of respondents played on a daily basis and 22% played three times a week.
The findings come from a poll of 1,000 online casual gamers visiting game sites served by Oberon, of which I-play is a subsidiary, during the month of September.
