Gameloft has announced that they have acquired the rights from Paramount Pictures to develop a mobile game based on the upcoming Beowulf movie, reports the Mobile Games Blog.
There’s no word on exactly what type of game Gameloft will be developing, but the setting and plot provide an ample backdrop for an interesting game in a variety of genres.
“Beowulf is not only one of the greatest legends, but now it will be brought to the silver screen and we’re excited to work on the mobile game adaptation,†said Gameloft president Michel Guillemot. “This is the third project that we have undertaken with Paramount Pictures, so we’ve established a real foundation to work well together. We’re currently working on developing gameplay to capture the essence of the film and break new ground with fans and mobile gamers alike.â€
There’s no word on the game’s release date, although it will presumably be timed to coincide with the movie’s November 16th release date.
