Boomshine

Boomshine
The very epitome of low-stress, tranquility-inspiring games, Boomshine leads you through a series of levels in which you attempt to set up chain reactions between serenly floating colored dots that great a small blast when they intersect with the another dot. All you have to work with is a single mouse click; position the mouse and punch the button once to create the first explosion and hope that the dots will drift into the blast area and detonate, eventually removing them all. Very creative and unusual game that requires your mind to always ask the question "What will this screen look like 10 seconds from now?"

Why it would work on a phone:
Boomshine has two very strong elements going for it as a mobile phone game. Firstly, the graphics are crisp, simple and clear; it’s one of the few games which would probably translate well to mobile phones without having to re-construct the scale from scratch. Secondly, the controls are extremely simple: Position the cursor, hit the button, watch what happens.

Why it wouldn’t:
It’s our feeling that someone, anyone should take a crack at making Boomshine into a viable mobile phone game… but the controls are an issue. I know, I know… we just said the controls are one of the strong points of this game and, of course, it’s both true and not true: Games which employ "free" controller schemes (like a mouse or a track ball) are often and easily translated to a four-direction arrow key setup (which would lend them to mobile phone controls), but Boomshine requires a certain degree of split-second, precise positioning which could be difficult to achieve with a four-way keypad without some serious work being put into making the controls feel smooth and some acceleration/decceleration. Quite a challenge, but the game would sure be worth it.
