Nokia and Qualcomm battle over patents

Qualcomm has filed two lawsuits against Nokia, the latest in a series of legal battles between the two companies, reports Engadget Mobile.

The two suits allege infringement of 5 patents, all of which relate to CDMA. Qualcomm, one of the largest suppliers of chips for CDMA-based phones, said the patents relate to the downloading of applications over wireless networks, as well as speech encoders used in certain phones. Certain Nokia GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone are in question, and Qualcomm wants an injunction against sales and damages for those already sold.
