I-Play has weighed in on the notion of casual gaming and mobile phones, and their word on the matter is that -despite some public opinion to the contrary- mobile gaming is not over-focused on casual games. According to Mobileindustry.biz, I-Play’s Leighton Webb shrugs off the notion that the casual gaming market doesn’t earn its attention.
But speaking to MobileIndustry.biz today Webb, who is SVP of content strategy and licensing at I-play, argued, “To ignore casual is a mistake. To ignore casual is to ignore the reality of the games industry. This isn’t a matter of what we believe is the right content strategy - this is about the fact that huge numbers of people are playing casual games.”
Webb also references M:Metrics data which supports the fact that casual games make up the majority of popular games on mobile devices.
