If you’re looking for a walk down Memory Lane, Gizmodo has just the article for you: Gizmodo Weekends: A Year End Review is Mark Wilson’s look back on the Gizmodo weekend contributions of 2006, about which he says “I put together some of my favorite “remember the time” posts along with a few touches of backstory”. Here’s a little bit of what Wilson thought was worth a second look: The “uBreakup”
I think the company that makes the uProducts (automated phone calls that take care of your dirty work for you) is hilarious. I like their marketing, and their ideas are good as both drunken novelty and social commentary.Anyway, after posting this story and getting a few harsh comments from our readers, the company wrote me and urgently demanded I put a new banner with the story. I think the old banner had word bubbles in which the guy said something like, “I’m getting married, c-ya!” So believe it or not, companies listen to your comments (even if they probably aren’t the companies you could give a crap about).
There are many more weird and interesting weekend contributions over at Gizmodo if you want to remember the year-that-was… in convenient gadget form.
