Although these industry moves aren’t very interesting to report, I feel I have to because I know somebody out there is appreciating them. Maybe the guy who received a promotion because of THQ’s new hire should give a “woot!” and make this worthwhile.
THQ today announced that Scott Guthrie has been appointed senior vice president, North American Sales and Distribution. He will handle sales, retail marketing, sales planning and operations teams in North America. He will report directly to Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO.
“Scott has a proven track record of success in many different entertainment categories across a wide variety of distribution channels,” said Farrell. “He has already played a critical role in the chart-topping launches of THQ’s major titles this year - from the cross-platform release of Disney/Pixar Cars in June to the recent release of our brand new property Saints Row for Xbox 360. We look forward to Scott’s results-oriented leadership as THQ continues to transform itself through a new cycle of growth.”
Guthrie has over 25 years of experience in sales and marketing for major entertainment companies. He was with Buena Vista Home Entertainment for 10 years, where he ascended to the role of senior vice president of sales and distribution. Guthrie has been a sales and operations management consultant for THQ since January 2006.
