QuicklyBored has interviewed Mike Yuen of QUALCOMM on our fifth podcast. The first thing to note is that QUALCOMM is pronounced “KWALL-COM” not “KWAIL-COM” just in case anybody was wondering.
Mike tells us that QUALCOMM is all about “driving rich data services from a 3G perspective”. From a BREW gaming experience, QUALCOMM is looking to develop games that are part of the “next big thing”. The analogy used is coffee. QUALCOMM wants to be the Starbucks of mobile games. They are looking to provide a complete experience. Premium games with a community and feature rich experience.
With regards to mobile game quality, Yuen thinks that 3G and 3D technology will be drivers in the industry to create higher quality games.
“What we see Verizon doing very well with V-Cast is providing a higher quality game for a premium price and that helps everybody.”
