According to Gamasutra, Gameloft has announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Korean telecom operator KTF.
“We are very happy to be launching our games directly through KTF; it’s a major operation for us that we have long prepared and strongly supported,” Won Cho, Gameloft Business Development Manager said.
He continued, “Korea is a major mass market for mobile games, where penetration usage reaches 12% of mobile users. With very aggressive pricing (at 2,500 KRW - 2 euros - per game), high quality handsets and excellent quality service on the deck, this market is considered as a benchmark all over the world. Our first games being a success there is a major encouragement to pursue our strategy.”
This is the second distribution announcement with a Korean carrier Gameloft has made this year. Gamasutra also reported that the company scored a deal with SK Telecom, a leading Korean carrier with over 20 million subscribers, in March. It looks like Gameloft is successfully taking the steps necessary to further establish its position as one of mobile gaming’s heavyweights.
