QuicklyBored is starting a new roundup due to the success of QB’s Texas Hold’em Roundup. Our newest roundup will look at a variety of chess games in the hopes of finding the best one.
Each game will be measured based on a standard criteria. We play the mobile chess game against Fritz 9 and measure the ELO. Fritz is a comprehensive chess package that acts as a coach, mentor and opponent. Fritz was chosen as the competitor because it has a relatively good AI. Fritz is such a good chess AI that even Gary Kasparov can’t beat it.
For those who don’t know, the ELO rating system is a means of comparing the relative skill of a chess player. Developed by a really smart guy called Arpad Elo, avid chess fans use the ELO rating system to boast about how good they are.
The chess games we will be reviewing are:
- ZingMagic Chess
- Medieval Kings Chess 2
- Karpov 3D Chess
- CelluFun Chess
Once we have the ELO rating for each game, we can then decide who will be the winner of the QB Guide to Chess. Keep coming back and see how the contest progresses.
