Land of the Rising Mobile Games

japan riseIt comes as no surprise that the mobile industry in Japan is growing at a tremendous rate. The Japanese have always been more advanced than North America when it comes to technology and so obviously mobiles are no exception.

Gamespot has recently transcribed figures regarding the Japanese mobile industry. Japan’s mobile gaming industry is also on the rise, although growth has been somewhat less dramatic. The business has more than doubled over the past few years to reach a value of 58.9 billion Yen (0.507 billion USD).

The mobile industry as a whole is growing rapidly in Japan. With a 21 per cent increase in content sales, the market is showing promise. The Japanese mobile games market has doubled in recent years resulting in a rise of over 722.4 billion yen (6.222 billion USD).

Given that most other technological trends in Japan have eventually made their way to North America and Europe, this seems to be an indicator of the direction that mobile gaming will take elsewhere. Or perhaps the Japanese have a mobile culture that we will never comprehend or adopt.
