EA Exec Talks Sense

EAIt has taken a long time but MobileIndustry.biz has finally posted a new interview on their site. Travis Boatman, an executive producer at EA, had some insight into selling games. Electronic Arts is looking for a new distribution model in order to boost sales and foster growth.

“The method by which games are sold is still pretty archaic,” Boatman stated.

“It hasn’t developed at the rate that the handsets have in terms of these prolific leaps and bounds in technology and the capabilities of the handsets.”

A lack of awareness and a poor purchasing experience are hindering the mobile games industry. Solving these issues is a top priority for publishers such as EA.

“Some consumers may not quite understand what they’re buying or the quality of the game, and that has to do with the distribution channel. If consumers could flip open their phone and - for free - play a demo or see a screenshot of the game… They download the game and have a great experience, and then come back again.”

Take a look at their interview here.
